SAN DIEGO – K2 Insurance Services bolstered its brand portfolio last month with the company’s acquisition of small commercial insurance company Oculus Underwriters.
Under the terms of the acquisition, Oculus will operate under K2’s subsidiary Vikco Insurance Services, which underwrites commercial real estate risks like earthquakes.
According to K2 CEO Bob Kimmel, the addition of Oculus strengthens both K2’s product diversification and its geographic diversification, as Oculus will continue operating out of Tampa, Florida.
“They only started maybe two, three years ago, but I think they’ve gone through all their growing pains and they’re headed in the right direction in a kind of fast hockey stick upward and we wanted to catch that momentum before it happened,” Kimmel said.
